Dynamic design, enthralling performance and exemplary efficiency – the Audi TT Coupe and the TT Roadster are now more attractive than ever. The width of 1,842 millimeters (6.04 ft) and the height of 1,352 millimeters (4.44 ft) and 1,357 millimeters (4.45 ft) for the Coupe and Roadster, respectively, remain unchanged. The wheelbase measures 2,468 millimeters (8.10 ft). Four new metallic colors have been added to the TT color range: Scuba Blue, Oolong Gray, Volcano Red and Dakota Gray. Daytona Gray, pearl effect is also available with the S line package.

Body
A key factor for the groundbreaking efficiency and excellent driving dynamics of the TT is the body, which features hybrid Audi Space Frame technology (ASF). Lightweight aluminum is used at the front of the car back to the B-pillar, with steel panels used at the rear. This mix enabled the development engineers to balance the axial loads perfectly and keep the total weight extremely low – prime parameters for dynamic performance.

The TT 1.8 TFSI weighs a mere 1,240 kg (2,733.73 lb), a good 100 kilograms (220.46 lbs) less than its closest competitor. The body of the Coupés weighs only 206 kilograms (454.15 lb), which breaks down to 140 kilograms (308.65 lb) of aluminum (68 percent) and 66 kilograms (145.51 lb) of steel (32 percent). The specific reinforcements in the TT Roadster – steel bulkhead, strongly ribbed sills, A-pillar and windshield frame – result in a 58 to 42 percent split of the two materials.

The ASF bodies of the TT are not only extremely lightweight, they are also very strong and low-vibration, providing the foundation for sporty and precise handling, the quiet ride and the high passive safety. A package of finely tuned retention systems protects the passengers in the event of a crash. The classic cloth top of the TT Roadster is a perfect complement to Audi’s lightweight construction principle. It contributes to a low center of gravity, fits ideally into the design line and takes up little space when folded.

Drivetrain
Three four-cylinder engines with turbocharging and direct fuel injection are available for both the TT Coupe and the TT Roadster. The two TFSI gasoline engines and the TDI combine sporty performance with groundbreaking efficiency – their fuel consumption figures have been reduced by up to 14 percent. All three engines are coupled with a recuperation system that recovers energy during braking and coasting phases.

Chassis
The front suspension features McPherson struts, with aluminum components used to keep the weight of the unsprung masses low. The power steering is direct, sensitive and thanks to its electromechanical drive, highly efficient. The trailing arms of the four-link rear suspension are relatively soft in the interest of comfort. The connections to the three transverse links per wheel, on the other hand, are rigid in order to direct lateral forces into the body with precision.

The only difference between this and the #1 laptop is the processor. The i3 second generation here, we feel is slightly underpowered. Both of them are at par as far as graphics is concerned with Lenovo's Nvidia 520M only slightly losing out. However with Nvidia's optimizer solution Optimus, the GPU power consumption is regulated for giving an optimum battery life. All in all a very good buy. Let us say Lenovo lost in a photo finish.

An i5 processor with 4GB RAM, coupled with a high-mid range separate GPU we guess that the configuration speaks volumes. And as stated earlier, Dell is known to have a superb after-sales service. It edges out the Lenovo Ideapad Z570 mainly because of its processor and its graphics handling capabilities are far better than the others in this range. The best laptop at this price, for b-school requirements, high definition movie watching and occasional gaming.

PS: For people willing to put a graphics card in their laptops and run the machine for more than 12 hours a day, you might want to invest in a laptop cooling stand. And if you want to use/play unplugged, a 9-cell battery would take care of the extra power consumption.

PPS: Apple makes excellent laptops. It's just that they never bother to come down to this price range.

HuJI confirms death of its chief; the Al-Qaeda leader was a key suspect in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks

Peshawar: Banned terror group Harkat-ul Jehad-al Islami today confirmed the death of its commander Ilyas Kashmiri in a US drone strike, Pakistani TV channels reported.

HuJI spokesperson Abu Hanzala issued a statement in which it said it would take revenge from the US for Kashmiri's death, Dawn news and other channels reported.
The channels said they had received a fax message from HuJI confirming the 47-year-old Kashmiri's death. Kashmiri was the chief of the Harkatul Jihad al-Islami (HuJI).

The al-Qaeda-linked terrorist was a key suspect in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
BBC Urdu had earlier reported that Kashmiri was among nine militants killed in a US drone strike in the South Waziristan tribal region.

The US drones targeted a location 20 km from Wana, one of the main towns in South Waziristan late last night. A drone fired two missiles at the spot and two more missiles were fired after a short interval, local residents were quoted as saying by BBC Urdu.

Former Pakistani Army commando Ilyas Kashmiri is cited as one of the masterminds of a plot for a series of 'Mumbai-style' attacks in European cities and who forged close links with the Al Qaeda.

Considered one of the most dangerous terror leaders in the world, he headed "Brigade 313" that is believed to have masterminded the May 22 attack on a naval base in Karachi.

Heavily armed terrorists stormed PNS Mehran base in Karachi and destroyed two surveillance aircraft. The 16-hour long siege left 10 security personnel and four terrorists dead.

The media report said that Kashmiri was killed Saturday in the drone strike that left at least nine other militants dead. Witnesses were quoted as saying that Kashmiri had arrived in South Waziristan from the Khyber tribal region.

The news of Kashmiri's killing comes just a month after Osama bin Laden was gunned down May 2 by US commandos who stormed the Al Qaeda leader's high-walled hideout in Abbottabad city, barely 120 km from Islamabad.

Pakistani Taliban and Al Qaeda have vowed to avenge Osama's death. There have been a string of terror strikes across Pakistan since his killing.

The bushy bearded Kashmiri, who is also named in the Mumbai terror attack case against Pakistani Canadian accused Tahawwur Hussain Rana, was described by one senior US official as a rising star in Al Qaeda terror group, NBC News had reported.

Rana, who is accused of providing material support to Pakistan based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and providing a cover to Pakistani-American David Coleman Headley for scouting targets for the 2008 Mumbai terror attack, has gone on trial in Chicago.

Although the attacks on European cities never came off, Kashmiri, who frequently sported aviator-styled dark glasses, had told a reporter for the Asian Times that the 2008 Mumbai attack was "nothing compared to what has already been planned for the future".

Kashmiri was at one point a member of the Pakistani military, serving as a commando in a Special Services Group that was once tasked with training Afghan mujahideen to fight the Soviets.

He was later reassigned to train Kashmiri fighters against the Indians, but broke from the Pakistani Army and joined a terrorist group called Harakat-ul Jihad-i-Islami, or HuJI.

According to the Chicago case indictment, Kashmiri based his terror operations in western Pakistan, and starting in 2007 was "in regular contact with Al Qaeda".

In February 2009, the indictment states, Headley met Kashmiri and another co-defendant in the Waziristan region of Pakistan and handed him surveillance videotapes he had taken of the Copenhagen offices of Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten that had run cartoons on Prophet Muhammad, to help plan a terrorist operation.

"During the meeting, Kashmiri indicated that he had already reviewed the Copenhagen videotapes and suggested that they consider using a truck bomb in the operation," the indictment states.

"Kashmiri also indicated he could provide manpower for the operation."
